Are you sitting at home in your underwear (like I am, Polo boxers, that's kind of classy, isn't it?), wondering why you're not out on a date?

Are you sitting at your office in your underwear, wondering why security is ready to escort you off the premises?

Not to worry, you're not a hideous creature that no one will ever love. You just need to put on some pants and get out in the world!

How about this: While you're waiting for the man/woman/farm animal of your dreams to walk into your life, why don't you find a noble, interesting pursuit to occupy your time.

There is a Burners Without Borders tribe ( tribes.tribe.net/bwb ). They've already done much great work in Louisiana and Mississippi, and now they're trying to set up chapters in cities like L.A. The L.A. people are currently looking for ways to help out with the latest wildfires.

So, check out BWB, or the Salvation Army, or the Red Cross, or whatever church or charitable organization appeals to you. Ask what you can do to help, and next thing you know, you'll be out with other volunteers. Sure, most of them will just be someone to talk to, but maybe, just maybe, you'll meet someone with whom you really click and next thing you know...

So, in those words that have been repeated time immemorial, "don't just stand there, _do_ something!"
